    The Dow average is an after the fact movement in the market and reflects just a small number of big companies. Long term investing in those companies have produced that 10% per annum. Correct? Does that mean to earn that 10% investors should own all the Dow companies? What happens when two of companies have stock splits and you don’t own them? Another question is what about those that pay better dividends than the others, are those dividends included in the average? Is the average just based on stock prices?
